Laurie Keane

Laurie is a native New Yorker. She received her B.A. in Media Studies & English and her Masters in Teaching from Fordham University where she became certified in NY State for nursery – grade 6. Laurie taught 5th grade in NYC at PS 87 and later crossed the river to New Jersey to teach at the Sundance School in North Plainfield. She was a preschool and kindergarten teacher for 3 years and for the last 6 years as an art and science teacher. Prior to teaching, Laurie worked in not-for-profit, production and as an actress and puppeteer, predominantly, for children’s theater. She also wrote a play called Under the Sea with the Silly Jellyfish, which is currently performed in repertory by the Hudson Vagabond Puppets. She loves her theater, cooking, eating out, skiing, scuba diving and travel. Laurie is very much looking forward to her first year at WMS.
