
Oran Etkin
Music Studio Teacher, Duane St.
is both an internationally acclaimed jazz and world music artist, and the creator of the Timbalooloo Method of teaching music. This method is used at WMS and in extracurricular Timbalooloo classes throughout New York, Paris and LA. His music is featured on CDs that have won numerous national awards and a Grammy Nomination. Described as “Ebullient” by the New York Times and "Woodwind Maestro" by PRI, Etkin has performed saxophone and clarinet around the world with musicians ranging from rapper Wyclef Jean to Jason Marsalis. Etkin brings this uniquely diverse perspective to his music for children, which incorporates rhythms and melodies from around the world. Etkin received his Masters from Manhattan School of Music and was on the faculty of the Brooklyn Conservatory.
