John Gleber and his family are no strangers to The Washington Market School. John, class of 1988, and current parent of a WMS student, has sent all four of his children to WMS; a testament to how unique and special impact The Washington Market School has had and continues to have in his life. Having spent his early years in New York City, and then moving to Florida where he attended University of Florida, John eventually made his way back to the City where he now resides with his wife and four children. John is the head of Tax Exempt and Affordable Housing for Mizuho, and sits on multiple boards which focus on housing and urban policy.

Early childhood education is nothing short of a formative experience and that remains true for John. Artwork from finger painting with his fellow Washington Market classmates still remains on display in John’s parents’ home, a reminder of the creativity and thoughtfully designed projects that students at WMS experience on a daily basis. The Gleber family has had the privilege of enjoying this joyful, experiential learning for the past eight years. The Washington Market School’s philosophy of honoring individual children’s interests and curiosities is something that John has carried into adulthood. He values the loving learning environment that embodies each classroom at WMS and feels as though his experience here taught him to always follow what truly inspires him. Lifelong skills of problem solving, openness, and intellectual curiosity blossomed from his time at WMS, a gift he happily shares with his children and the adults in his life.
