Dear WMS Community,
The last eight months have been a time of heightened decision-making by many people at our school. At our weekly Admin meeting this past Monday, I shared my gratitude with our peerless administrators who keep the school safe and clean and healthy; who ensure our Enrollment continues strong and that our children who are leaving for Independent schools are recorded and their reports sent in a timely fashion; who monitor our finances and our Fundraising efforts; who coordinated the Book Fair and our celebrations for Diwali; who daily keep our health records and communications up to date; who enhanced our website and started our presence on social media, who supervise our staff and all that makes us the yummiest and most spectacular early childhood center in the world. (ask the kids!).
The appreciation for our teachers who have been accurately labelled “our heroes” by parents’ chalk messages and through gift boxes is endless. They allow us to carry on through this most challenging time of our respective lives. Please forgive me for quoting Sir Winston Churchill as I know this is not a war with daily bombing and an unknown ending of when the enemy will be thwarted, but it surely feels like that at times:
“We shall not fail or falter. We shall not weaken or tire. Neither the sudden shock of battle nor the long-drawn trials of vigilance and exertion will wear us down”. I feel this beautifully describes how the entire WMS community has responded to the shock of the pandemic attack. Since March, everyone has worked unstintingly, not weakening or tiring, many not taking a day off, to provide the best possible education while maintaining the highest level of safety for the children and our staff.
So I want to thank you all for continuing to make this daunting school year a success, and that, of course, includes our WMS families, who have provided generous and caring support for what we are doing. We hear your appreciation and it allows us to have an even deeper sense of community.
Please stay well and keep the health of our community in mind as you celebrate,
Ronnie
